An early afternoon accident involving a bicycle and a school has sent a man to the hospital. According to New York officials, the car accident occurred around 2 p.m. when a bike and school bus entered an intersection. Cameras from a nearby store caught the aftermath of the accident, though the actual collision was not caught on tape.
The biker, identified as being a man in this 30s, was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for critical injuries. As of the early evening, he was reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the bus stopped after the accident occurred and remained at the scene.
The bus driver’s identity has not been released at this time. Police have stated that they do not suspect that criminal conduct was a factor in the accident. Police have not given any indication at this time who they suspect was at fault.
Based on the information disclosed thus far, it appears that the ultimate cause of this New York car accident has yet to be determined. As the biker recovers from his injuries, his testimony as to the circumstances surrounding the accident could be helpful in determining exactly what occurred. This evidence along with the testimony of other witnesses, could give rise to a personal injury action should it be documented that the cyclist’s injuries were caused by the negligence of another party. If the injured man can establish this in a civil courtroom, the law provides for the right to recover monetary damages for expenses and other damages occasioned by those negligent acts detailed.
