The names of the victims in a fatal crash have not yet been released by police, but an investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to local law enforcement. The car accident that claimed the life of one unidentified passenger and hospitalized three others took place in Hudson River, New York in the early morning of Oct. 20. No charges have yet been filed in association with this tragic case.
According to police records, the one-vehicle crash had no discernible cause, but it involved the vehicle leaving the road. The driver and a back seat passenger were critically injured and rushed to a local hospital by arriving medical personnel. The driver sustained a serious head injury, and the passenger would later be pronounced dead at the hospital.
A front-seat passenger suffered injuries described as minor, and a second rear seat passenger suffered severe injuries and is interred at a local hospital as well. So far, police have not commented on whether alcohol or high speed may have contributed to this accident. The driver has not been charged with any crime at this time.
The investigation into this tragic car accident is still underway, and until New York police complete their inquest it will be difficult to ascertain whether or not the driver was at fault for the accident. If police discover the driver was negligent, speeding or under the influence of alcohol, it is likely that criminal charges will be filed. Regardless, the injured parties in the vehicle and the family of the deceased passenger will still have the option to file personal injury and wrongful death suits, respectively, against the driver.
