Traffic lights are positioned across many busy intersections as a way to ensure that motorists enter these areas safely. When these lights are ignored, the results can be tragic, as evidenced in a recent motor vehicle crash at a New York intersection.

Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred recently when a 65-year-old man apparently ran a red light while driving his SUV. The SUV entered into the intersection and crashed into another vehicle. As a result of the collision, the SUV flipped over and hit a parked car before finally coming to rest.

The driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. It was reported that the man was released from the hospital later that same day. Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle, whose identity has not been disclosed at this time, was also transported to the hospital. His condition has not been released.

Authorities indicated that this motor vehicle crash remains under investigation, and police have not filed any criminal charges. Despite the fact that no charges have been brought and New York police have not finished their investigation, the injured driver in this crash retains the right to file a personal injury suit in a New York civil court. This suit may allow the victim to proceed with their case prior to final reports being issued, so as to ensure that their case is handled as swiftly as possible. Nevertheless, the victim will need to prove by competent evidence that the other driver was negligent in their operation of their vehicle, leading to a motor vehicle crash.
