There are few things more tragic then a car accident taking the life of a young individual. However, in some cases, a fatal accident can magnify in its effect when there is more than one individual riding in the vehicle. In a recent case, a single vehicle accident caused the death of four New York teenagers. The driver, who has been identified as being 17 years old, was hospitalized after his vehicle struck a tree in the early morning hours.
The accident occurred at around 4 a.m. Police say that the driver failed to properly negotiate a turn in the road. The car proceeded to travel into a wooded area where it hit a tree. The impact was so severe that the car was cut into two pieces.
The four deceased victims, who have all been identified as being 18 years old, were ejected from the vehicle. Their identities were not initially released. Meanwhile, the medical condition of the driver was not disclosed.
An area resident stated that accidents on the section of roadway involved occur on a regular basis. However, New York police officials have not yet indicated what factors may have played a role in this tragic fatal accident. It is likely that police will have a significant amount of work to do in order to bring their investigation to a conclusion. This work may prove to be useful to the victims’ families should they elect to pursue wrongful death lawsuits against the driver of the vehicle. This type of civil legal claim requires proof that the fatalities were caused by the negligence of another party.
