Three men in the employ of country star Luke Bryan are in the hospital, according to local sources. The men were involved in a car accident near Odessa, New York, on the morning of April 10. So far, police have declined to file charges, but their investigation is ongoing at this time.
According to the accident report, around 8:30 a.m. the men were headed southbound on State Route 13 when the minivan they were riding in apparently left the road. The van was moving fast enough that it went airborne, flipping onto its side and coming to rest in a water-filled ditch. One of the men was reportedly thrown from the vehicle by the force of the impact.
The other two men were trapped inside the vehicle and arriving medical personnel required the Jaws of Life to free them. Their injuries are reported as unknown at this time, but all three men were injured severely enough that they were transported by helicopter to a local hospital. Police have not speculated publicly on what may have caused the crash, but they have not ruled out recklessness, negligence or intoxication as possible causes.
Depending on the outcome of the New York State Police investigation, it is still possible the driver may face charges for his role in the car accident. Even if he does not, the other injured men could still file personal injury lawsuits against him, if enough evidence exists that he was responsible in a meaningful way for the car accident. Such suits are not contingent upon criminal convictions to succeed in civil court.
